ClickBank: what it takes to get approved.

Digital info products, courses, software and recurring digital subscriptions (plus some physical) sold on the seller's own pitch page with ClickBank as retailer and checkout, aimed at affiliate-driven sales.

Networks change their rules. Every point below links to its source and the date we read it; check it the day you submit.

Who it suits

Affiliates (media buyers, email/content marketers) browsing the ClickBank Affiliate Marketplace by category and gravity; buyers are consumers reached by those affiliates.

Fees

One-time activation charge $49.95 when the first product is approved ($29.95 for additional accounts of sellers who already paid). Per sale: 7.5% + $1 (Klarna: 9.8% + $1.30); subscription rebills under $40: ClickBank keeps 9.9%; $0 free-trial initial sale $0.50. $5.00 processing fee per payout. Refund fee $1.00 (price+shipping >= $10) or $0.50 (< $10) on initial sales, waived if refunded the same calendar day. Chargeback fee $22 if the account's chargeback rate < 1.0%, $29 + ClickBank's margin at 1.0-1.49%, $49 + margin above 1.5% (rate above 1% without improvement risks termination). Dormant-account fees exist (amount not stated on the page read).

Affiliate page and affiliate info

Marketplace listing (Vendor Settings > My Site > Manage Marketplace Listing): Category + Subcategory, Offer Title and Offer Description (mandatory), up to 10 keywords, optional Affiliate Tools URL (the affiliate/JV page), Marketplace Image, Affiliate Support Email, Telegram username, landing page name/description/URL. Changes appear within 24 hours.

Delivery

Buyer returns to the seller's Thank You Page URL with query params item, cbreceipt, time, cbpop, cname, cemail, ccountry, czip, cbaffi (can be encrypted to keep PII out of the URL). Validate cbpop = first 8 chars uppercase of SHA-256("secretkey|cbreceipt|time|item") (itemset inserted before item when present), per the current PHP example. Server-side: Instant Notification Service (INS) v8.0, JSON {notification, iv} encrypted with AES-256-CBC using a secret key (up to 16 caps/digits); types SALE, BILL, RFND, CGBK, CANCEL-REBILL, UNCANCEL-REBILL, TEST etc.; needs 2xx within 3 s, retried every 4 h up to 5 attempts; enable via Vendor Settings > My Site > Advanced Tools (Request Access, Test URL). No license-key generator documented; seller generates keys.

Reviewer access

not documented on the pages read (the payment-link guide requires the seller to place a test order before submitting).

Approval

Submit For Review -> ClickBank Compliance team review, published as 3-5 business days; approval email then OWNER pays the $49.95 activation charge; status chip Pending Review -> Active (or Action Required). Chat support cannot approve products.

Affiliate approval

By default any affiliate can create a HopLink from the marketplace with no seller approval. Optional Vendor Settings > My Features > "Affiliates Require Approval": affiliates must contact the seller and be added to a CPA commission or Commission Group before they can create HopLinks; Blocked Affiliates tool disables links.

Marketplace visibility

The Client Contract authorizes ClickBank to list registered products in the searchable marketplace; the seller maintains the Marketplace Listing. After 90 days from activation, the listing stays eligible only with an affiliate-generated sale/rebill (not returned) in the past 90 days or a listing update in the past 90 days. Ranking uses Gravity ("approximate, relative measure of how many affiliates have successfully promoted products from an account") and Rank (sales volume, affiliate sales, commissions).

Refunds

Default 60-day return period; seller can set 30-90 days per product (Flexible Refund Policy; up to 364 by request; PayPal purchases 180 days). Customer requests go to ClickBank's ticket system; seller has 24 hours to save the sale, then ClickBank automatically processes the refund. Client Contract: refunds allowed up to 60 days after purchase.
